Category Manager, Procurement- NA Sugar

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the strategic sourcing, operational procurement, negotiation, supplier relationship management and contract management of Sugar for the Coca-Cola Bottling network in the US, Canada.  The primary focus of this position will be to create and execute strategies, which includes conducting negotiations with suppliers, to ensure the lowest total cost of ownership while delivering continuity of quality supply, exceptional service, lean initiatives, innovation and sustainability. The individual will be responsible for maintaining and growing relationships with Bottler members and customers, global procurement and suppliers – including end-to-end financial stewardship of the CCBSS Sugar Procurement Program.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Possess the skillset to become a subject matter expert for Sugar including an in-depth knowledge of industry structure, economic drivers, supplier financials and competitive situation.
• Monitor and analyze domestic and international sugar markets including cane, beet, liquid, and MIS. Have a deep understanding of economic drivers.
• Lead the development of Category Management strategies, execution of 7-Step Strategic Sourcing activities and cost savings projects that maximize value across the end to end supply chain.
• Negotiate, implement and manage long-term strategic contracts to ensure optimum costs and reliable supply ensuring compliance with Procurement Policies and SOX rules.
• Prioritize (including stop work) and enable continuous improvement in his/her area of responsibility leveraging lean/six-sigma methods and internal and external best practices.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with user groups and suppliers including key collaboration with Quality and Manufacturing to drive quantified continuous improvement.
• Analyze market forecasts and projections to develop and update budgets on a monthly basis including continuous improvement of financial tools to forecast spend, highlight risk/opportunity and quantify productivity. Analytical and Sourcing execution includes, but is not limited to:

Key Skills and Abilities

• Subject matter expertise in standard analytical tools (i.e. Excel) and procurement systems (SAP, contract manager)
• Excellent communication and analytical skills required
• Great work ethic  

Education Requirements

• BS in Business or related discipline or 5+years of Procurement or agricultural commodity experience 

Years of Experience

• 5 to 8 years of Procurement experience (Food or Beverage preferred)

Required Travel

10% Travel - Motor Vehicles Report will be processed
