IT Application Architect

Job Summary

Architect and implement application solutions against complex business requirements. Ensure a seamless integration of proposed solutions to the rest of the IT Architecture.  Assist in managing and governing application platforms, such as Salesforce, Quickbase, Alteryx, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand, advocate, and follow the architecture, IT standards, and Architecture Review Board processes
  • Work with IT and business leaders to help define and deliver application solutions
  • Assist with research, evaluation, and selection of software solutions
  • Analyze current technology to proactively detect and remediate deficiencies
  • Understand current and evolving technology trends
  • Coach, mentor and collaborate with business clients to develop application architecture which enables and drives new business capabilities and operating models
  • Oversee the Citizen Development framework, its implementation, support, and governance.  Recommend new toolsets as new technologies arise or as business needs ch
  • information, and working with the development leads to ensuring schedules are met, story points are assigned timely and accurately, and that sprints are planned, documented in an ALM, and are organized in accordance with Agile best practices. 
  • Ad-hoc technical tasks, including tracking down technical processes, resources or infrastructure across the landscape, engaging with support teams, including offshore teams, and the like
  • Oversee the monthly sprint development cycles for the Salesforce application, including understanding business requirements, interfacing with the business as needed to obtain functional
  • information, and working with the development leads to ensuring schedules are met, story points are assigned timely and accurately, and that sprints are planned, documented in an ALM, and are organized in accordance with Agile best practices.

Key Skills and Abilities

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Able to effectively communicate with supplier technical resources, management, and clients/Bottlers
    • Able to translate business requirements, processes into technical solutions
    • Able to translate complex technical concepts to business language for executive level stakeholders
    • Experience leading in-depth, technical discussions with suppliers and securing their alignment to desired outcomes
    • Knowledge of cloud compute technologies
    • Aptitude to be an amazing leader, a team player and the desire to learn and implement new Cloud technologies as needed
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Good understanding of Agile software development principles including using common tools such as JIRA and Confluence

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: Bachelors degree - CS, CIS or equivalent technical discipline
  • Preferred: Masters degree - CS, CIS or equivalent technical discipline

Years of Experience

  • 5 years of experience with information technology
  • Developing/operating large scale services/applications
  • Knowledge of cloud compute technologies
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines
  • Database knowledge and programming in SQL or equivalent
  • Working with or supporting production, test, and development environments
